      2019 Volunteer and Donations

The Fair is staffed and supported entirely by volunteers.

The contact names are email addresses, if you have problems, use the form at the bottom of this page.

Set-up/Cleanup: on MondayJune 24th at 5 pm, the fair set-up will take place on the common (Tuesday is the rain date).  Meet at Jeff Balch's Barn @5:00PM (441 Hanover Center Rd Etna, NH 03750-4116, House with large red barn - East side of the road) or at the Common @6:00PM. Clean up help is needed Saturday after activities end (late afternoon) and then again on Sunday the 30th (after church services under the tent!). Equipment and tents will be put away over the rest of the week. All labor is welcome and appreciated! Work clothes, gloves and trucks/trailers are helpful.

During the event: people are needed to help staff game booths, scoop ice cream, make cotton candy or popcorn, work the food booth, be a runner for the auction, staff the book sale and White Elephant sale, and so on. Volunteer help is lined up in advance so please don't wait until the day of the event to offer assistance.

Oxen Pull:  The Oxen pull can use help setting up and cleanup (same days as above group). It would involve installing wooden snow fence, picket pounding, form wire tying and general labor. And, the reverse Saturday afternoon.

They also could use help with the scoring table during the events, just sit in the shade, record the numbers and be an MC!

White Elephant sale (yard sale type things):  Three ways to help on the sale are by donating used items, by offering time (again an hour, two hours, whatever you can spare) to help sort and tag the goods in the couple of weeks before the event, and by offering to staff the sale for an hour during the fair itself (basically to take the money and bag up people's purchases).; donations of items and especially of time are much appreciated.  No need to be an expert on anything here.

Advertising in the program: a program for the two days of the fair is printed in which advertising space is sold.  If you would like to advertise, or the company where you work would be willing to advertise, we invite you to do so.  We would love to see some new ads from local families or items that show history of the church and/or fair.  Rates are $40 for quarter-page ads; $55 for half-page ads; and $85 for full-page ads.  Advertising deadline is May 26th.

Book sale: Two to three weeks prior to the event we need people to come by the church for an hour, two hours, whatever you can spare, to sort books by category.  You grab a box of books and spread them around the room by category (history books, children's books, general fiction and so on).  No great skill (other than reading a book jacket) is needed.  We also need donations of books if you want to clean off your bookshelf.  Staffing the book sale during the fair for an hour or two is appreciated as well.

Raffle and T-Shirts:  Donations are needed as raffle items. If you have any ideas of local businesses or you yourself would be willing to make a donation, bring it on! Raffle prizes must be arranged no later than May 1st. Raffle tickets will go on sale around Memorial Day.

Also POC for T-shirts.

Games and Kids fun: We need an adult to organize the kids to staff the game booths and to oversee the games for the fair.  More than one adult willing to help is great as well. Some of the games need more supervision by adults than others.   Please let us know if you can help or if your kids would like to help staff the game booths.

Auction:  Items are needed for donation to the auction as well (larger items such as furniture, tools, etc.); also if you have a truck and or trailer and would be willing to pick up donated items that is appreciated as well.

Crafts/Artisans: there are a number of booths for professional artisans as well; if you are one or know one who would like to show wares at the event, please let us know.

Community Outreach: got mad digital or people skills? We can use folks to assist getting the word out.

Poster Distribution: if you have the time or inclination to put up posters in your local area, we would appreciate it!

Bake sale: goodies are sold during the fair; if you'd be willing bake something to donate that would be great.  The baked items would need to be delivered to the church for the start of the fair Friday or Saturday.

Events will be available on our Facebook page soon for you to join as well.  We appreciate our community being involved and the help they give us to host this amazing local fair for the past 50+ years.

Success! Message received.
